so glad this popped up on my feed. late-stage capitalism in decline has a grotesque and absurdist glamour, rotting from the inside out. we'll try to analyze it someday if we even make it. but right now we can't look away. brilliant piece.

"The only problem with the salon is that to get to the social part you have to sit through an hour of monologues about Hegel"

I see you are not a hegelian e-girl after all. That's a good thing. If you know where the Kantians are, please reach out. Brilliant writing by the way.

Yeah it's a real tall order describing the Vibe in this town rn. I can see how you'd end up with multiple attempts and nothing you felt like publishing. This is good though! I gotta get downtown more often.

This is great, I like getting multiple views of this party from people on substack. One day I hope to be invited to a party like this so I can people-watch. I work on the Hill in a non political profession (IT) so I wonder if I knew the crowd.

man, it's articles like these that make me reflect on the 3 years I lived in DC and makes me reminisce about how grateful I am that I'm not there anymore

oh I wish you'd write more free, this is awfully good but I can't subscribe with $ for more things quite yet, eager to read more to make sure, publish more, share more, edit less (no writers block if you just keep it coming) of course you can't sum it up because it's happening live, very grateful for the view inside, keep going, X

you probably don't want to say, but what is the salon you refer to?

It’d be great to know which places in DC are agreeing to host these, so the civilized people can avoid them if we don’t already.

you couldn’t get in even if you wanted to so i’m not sure why this is relevant

I was asking about the venues hosting them. I assume these are restaurants and bars that are ordinarily open to everyone.

It goes without saying that I wouldn’t ever find out if I couldn’t get into a MAGA event, because I have better things to do with my life than try that.
